The tomb of King Herod, who reigned Judea from 37 to 4 BC, has been discovered, fifteen kilometers (9 miles) south of Jerusalem. This king is famous for remodeling the Second Temple into a world-famous structure, for building the fortress Masada (which was the final defensive position for the Jews who had rebelled against the rule of the Roman Empire, which led to the Romans' destruction of both the Second Temple and Masada), and for the slaughter of young baby boys in the area of Bethlehem after the King of the Jews (Jesus) had been reported to have been born there. More information on the discovery of this tomb can be found at ScienceDaily.
